Why drag this Finn-Luna reveal for so long?

I don't think Luna's story will develop much. Just long enough to bring a lot of trouble for Finn, possibly some Leffy included.
I am glad Liam doesn't want Hope back anymore but the poor guy still is written like the waffler he always was. Not "different" like Bell said.
Who knows, the Luna story could even end with Luna not being Finn's daughter or Luna getting out of Bill's house and killing again...I don't think she will become a regular.
The writing is just plot-driven now, just for shock-value
